How to import video footage into imovie?

I have a Sony DCR-SR68 and I am trying to import some footage into Imovie. I know how to connect it with the USB and what to press in the menu, but when I click on import all it comes up with an error it says, "The import was canceled. You may not have permission to write to /iMovie Events.localized." And I don't know chance to get any of the footage again because it was a live show. Thanks for your time to anyone who is willing to and can help.
