HELP WITH MY PSP UMD STUFF PLEASE?

Okay heres the problem. I have a reg PSP 2000(never hacked it or anything) now when i place my UMD's in, it begins to read them but does not display the game icon.. it makes a strange whirring sound twice repeatedly and im worried.. what can i do? do i need 2 repair or is it an easy fix or do i need 2 wait it out.. by the way my PSP always worked b4..(no water damage what-so-ever)
